Heelbite

“Heelbite” is a term often used for when a pair of pants or trousers are a little bit too long for the wearer causing for the phenomenon of “Heelbite” to occur.  When your trousers are a bit too long on you, the hem often gets caught under your heel causing distressing and fraying to occur. I used to resent the way this looked as my pants were often too long on me so I cut them all off. I always wondered why I loved the line “look for me under your bootsoles' ' at the end of Walt Whitman's “song of myself' ' and I still don't. As I got older I have come to covet the way my old hems sitting in my scrap pile looked so I decided to make good use of them. This piece is made up of all of my worn recycled pant hems that suffer from heelbite and layed out to be visually appealing to the eye. All pieces sewn onto a piece of brown wool gabardine.
